Note: no offence on the autism thing. Seriously. It's used lightly and hopefuly in a non-offensive way in this "review"

Anyway, Just went to see New freaking Moon today. I have a pretty strong opinion about it that I'd like to share, and I hope you agree(?)
Or not.
Anyway, I went with a big group to see it, and we went pretty early so we would not be infested with fangirls squealing at Edward (sadly, we ended up doing all the laughing and commentary in the movie, so we were just as bad as them, probably).
I take 5 things into account when I review a moive:
*Acting (also includes chosen actors to fit into roles)
*General scenery, photogrpahy and camera handling
*Writing
*Chemistry
*Faithfulness to the book (if the movie is based on a book)

So let's get started, shall we?

*ACTING*

Oh god, why did I have to put this first -_-
*sigh*
I'm sorry to many Stuart fans, but Bella Swan, played by the aforementioned Kirsten Stuart was...Oh my god. Not....nice. I mean, she had these REALLY weird face twicthes and looked down way to many times. She stutters lines to the point where you can't understand what she's saying. But I think the worst part of it is that...SHE SHOWS. NO. FREAKING. EMOTIONS.
Look, Bella is pretty devastatded when Edward leaves, but her performance was not believable to me. I just do not see Bella in this actress.
Then there's Edward. I think his performance was a bit more believable here, compared to the first movie. I BELIEVE that it kills him to leave his beloved one. I BELIEVE how happy he is when he sees Bella is alive. Lastly, I FREAKING BELIEVE he's angry when he sees Bella in trouble. Ok? It wasn't Oscar, of course, but it was satisfying.
Then we have Jacob. This is another performance that I foind very good. The guy really showed the temper most werewolves seem to have in the book, and he made me alugh lots of times, delivering his comic lines with emotions. Again, I found the performance believable.

Now, to look generaly at the cast (can't make this too long!)

Vampires: I loved these guys, 'specialy the voulturi. Everyone did a pretty good job, especialy Alice and Aro. Dakota was a pretty good Jane, which surprised me pleasantly. But one thing though; has any of you noticed that the vast majority have what Wulfy () calls "the constipation face"? Srsly, if you read this before watching the movie, pay attention to that, it's incredibly funny.

Wolves: These guys made me laugh so hard (in the good way!) They played their parts very well. Not much to say, except it was great to see Bella give one of them a slap in the face. Fo' real.

Humans: May I say that, in a movie where the air-head Jessica looks smarter than Bella, it can never be good for the protagonists' image? I'm just saying. Anyway, I loved how everyone, especialy Eric and Mike, played their parts. These guys are really good.


*General scenery, photogrpahy and camera handling*

Hmm. So-so.
Forks, of course, was the general standard, which isn't bad, You can't expect an epic scenery when talking about a small, rainy town.
The forest continues to be very spooky and cool. (comment made in the theatre: "LOOK! THE FORBIDDEN FOREST!". Thank you, Mariana)
Italy, of course, was awsome. The whole sandy colors of the exterior contrasting with the dark marble of the inner voltera was well done.
But of course,I have a general problem with the FREAKING FIELD. THE FLOWERS LOOK LIKE THEY'RE MADE OF PLASTIC.
And I think they could have done a better job with the reservation (though the beach was so beautiful, which is so diferent from the beaches I'm used to in Brazil)

Camera handling was a little shaky. Just ask wulfy: the way the camera swayed in circles or went from one scene to the other ACTUALY MADE HIM SICK. I think the movie could do without that.

I would also like to include costume into this category.
It was standard, though I couldn't help but notice that, as the months go by and Bella is staring at the window, why don't her clothes change? Was she so depressed she didn't shower for three months? No wonder she sits alone in the cafeteria.


*Writing*

*Cough*
Well, considering the material they had to use, you can tell that they TRIED. THEY REALLY DID.
But some lines were, in fact, a little too corny. Luckily, the actors were able to pull it off (though barely), but ENOUGH WITH THE LOVE (yes, I am aware that I'm saying this when talking about a love story).
I'm just tired of hearing about who loves who. Sometimes you don't need lines: just the way they look is enough. Because that's how reality is, right?


*Chemistry*

I could tell that Stuart and Pattinson had great chemisty. She also ahs a very nice, friendly one with Lutner (Jacob)
Not much to say about it. It was very good.


*Faithfulness to the book*

Very faithful. It covered the main aspects of the book in aceptable detail, and some of the added things didn't really throw off the feel of the movie, and in some cases was a great add.




Overall rating: 3.5/5

I enjoyed it, and though some things could have been changed, it was an ok movie: I certainly was entertained for those 2 hours. But is it re-watchable? (which, in Ely standars, is pretty freaking awsome) The answer is no, not really. But I'm glad there was a new director. The preevious one got on my nerves with her "FOMG INDIE" style, her fangirlness, and her repetitive use of the phrase "we wanted to experiment with this or that". Enthusiasm annoys me.

Last thought: If you're a fan of the series, you'll like it. That's all I'm saying.
